My very heart bleeds for you
Your forlorn cries oppress
My brimming breast to break
Into dirge, a mournful dirge,
Oh! the cruelty,
Imposed on beings
by their own kind
In the sacred land
All hold holy,
Which religion teaches sacrilege?
Bloodshed, cruelty, disorder?
Which religion teaches hatred?
Greed and imperial oppression?
Then why all this hiss
Of the Serpent bent
To turn the vein of
Humanity blue
Peace, the soul of society,
Let it flourish the world around
Terrified angels be consoled
With the treat of brotherly love.
